Ibrahim Mahama, a Ghanaian business mogul is set to take over the ownership of former Premiership club, Real Tamale United after the Tamale based club opted to go on the stock exchange.
According to Ghanasoccernet.com, the brother of Ghana’s President, John Mahama has thrown a lifeline to the once fearful Tamale club who are currently in zone one of the GN Bank Division One campaign.
He is set to acquire 70% stakes of the floated shares and become the new owner of the Northern giants when the takeover is complete.
The Ghanaian league which is bereft of sponsorship has resulted in many clubs go defunct with some set to go into liquidation. This development will therefore be good news for the club who are eager to stage a comeback to the elite league.
Alhassan Yekini, a management member of Real Tamale United who confirmed the deal to UraSports in the Upper East Region said, “we are opening the sale of shares for people to buy and Ibrahim Mahama said he wants to take majority of the shares.”
“So automatically he becomes the owner of the club. He wants to take 70% of the shares.”
Yekini confirmed the takeover when he revealed that Ibrahim and the club were engaged in the documentation process and were likely to complete it next week.
